The Czech border police has expanding the EasyGO project at Prague’s Václav Havel airport by adding an additional ten eGates.

The passenger inserts the passport into a reading device which checks the data, then comes up to the gate where the mobile biometric camera scans the face. A policeman supervises the process observing the behaviour of the passenger on a computer monitor, comparing the biometric data from the passport and checking the face.” – explain the process of control on Prague Airport webpage.

The check-in time is a mere fifteen seconds. The use of this biometric system makes the border check process more effective and quick and contributes to the increasing of all security standards.

E-Gates were taken from the Programme CZ14 focusing on Schengen Cooperation, from the project called „The expansion of a system of automated controls of electronic travel documents at international airports (e-gate and full page documents scanners)“

Opens of e-Gates had a great media coverage.
